Just like in the U.S., the young people in the Bahamas are faced with peer pressure and the temptations of drugs, alcohol, pre-marital sex, and dropping out of school. We find these young men and women hungry for acceptance and looking in all the wrong places. In recent years, EBTC and CMA have actively reached out to this age group through a girl's Bible study, interaction with teams and most recently through the presentation of an abstinence program in the high schools.
However, developing one-on-one relationships with this younger generation has proven the most effective way to show them God's unconditional love and we hope to seeing more missionaries, and especially mature, Christian Bahamians, reaching out to their younger peers in the coming months and years.
