Dave & Vickie Hawkins
Dave and Vickie came on board with CMA in April of 2004. They have been married since 1974, after being high school sweethearts. Their children are three, but their family now numbers 10 (with 2 sons-in-law and three grandchildren). They say about grand parenting, “God saved the best for last!” They both love music and gardening together.
Dave is CMA's Coordinator of Training and comes to CMA from 20 years of pastoral ministry where he worked on the staff of two churches as associate pastor for leadership development and was the teaching pastor in a church plant in New Jersey. Dave’s passion is preaching the Word and seeing men developed in their preaching gifts.
Vickie is what Dave calls a “P-31 woman” (a woman who exemplifies the traits listed in Proverbs 31). In his view, she is primarily responsible for their successful parenting which has seen all the children leave home for adulthood and serve the Lord in their respective roles in life. After the nest was emptied, Vickie served for five years in an intense ministry as a client services manager for a crisis pregnancy center. Vickie’s passion is one-on-one discipleship with other women.
Dave received his BA (1984) from Columbia Bible College and his MA (1987) from Columbia Biblical Seminary (1987), both in Columbia, South Carolina. Vickie also took classes at Columbia Bible College, but concentrated the majority of her energies at the time on their young family.
In Dave's role as Coordinator of Training he will expand the teaching, training, and equipping ministry of CMA to the nations of the Caribbean. His hope is that his years in the pastorate will enable him to connect with pastors and church leaders in view of developing future ministry opportunities.
During 2005 and 2006, Vickie experienced an illness that severely handicapped her at the time, but also left her with some on-going limitations. Dave’s involvement in the ministry was adjusted to care for Vickie while also traveling occasionally to the Caribbean. |
